'08 - The Year to Get Rich or Die Tryin'
1st day of 2008
Will this be the year I make it? Will this be the year that one of my random spurts of get-rich-quick-effort lands me millions of dollars, allowing me to pursue my dreams of becoming a successful and wasteful rockstar, which will give me the opportunity to leverage my short-lived B- or C-level fame to marry a supermodel and then retire off my recently amassed riches in a mansion by the ocean? (Please answer Yes or No and explain your reasoning as a comment to this blog.) My answer is "yes," or I'll die trying.
This January 1st, I feel especially motivated to give success a shot. 2007 passed by all too fast, and looking back, I didn't really accomplish much at all in '07. Though it marked my first full year of fulltime work, the year was awfully unrewarding and I don't have many memories to reflect back on. Post-college, I felt the same way about my college years.
This year, it will be different. I will blog more frequently, showing off my valiant triumphs and victorious conquests.
I will walk down the street and shout "THIS IS WHERE WE FIGHT! THIS IS WHERE THEY DIE!!" (when no one's looking).
No longer will I waste away my time like the thousands of struggling actors around me.
Remember this day, imaginary reader, for it will be yours for all time. And, by "this day," I mean "this year;" and by "yours for all time," I mean "mine for all time."

Sorry to dash your hopes dave, but no, you will not be a miraculous success. I say this because one, I'm a pessimist, and two, if you have lower expectations you can't be let down. :P
If you do end up blogging more that'll be cool. :D

Spike already did that, not sure why when the answer is clear. Jessica Alba is an 11...no a 12! She's what makes me still have Dark Angel DVRed from SiTV even though I've now seen every episode 4 times. XD Oh those memories of me yelling at Spike commercials calling the guys liking Jessica Biel more dumba**es and other random names.
I doubt you'll get rich enough to do what you want this year, but there is hope. I've found working at a broker dealer that a little money can go a long way. I'd never have my reg. rep ever do trades, but would definitely rely on companies like Curian Capital, TD Ameritrade, CLS Investments, etc. who know what they are doing and do it well. If you already have a VA asking your reg. rep have a company like Absolute Capital look over the sub accounts and make sure your VA is always working the way you originally planned. Just remember once you get 25 million even if you put it in something with just a 5% return that's 125 grand a year on money that's already been taxed and doesn't take away from that total. XD
(All advise is given by someone who does not have any licenses to give financial advise in place of a registered representative. I am not personally registered with the NASD, SEC or SiPC. I am just a lowly employee who's work does the lotto so every time we do we talk about how we'd spend out money, how much we'd need to retire and different ways to invest it. Yes, we're that insane. XD)
